The best shoes for travelling

0

Sore, blistered and puffy feet can turn any trip into a nightmare. Here are some of our favourite shoes that are perfect for travelling.

 Ballet flats or loafer

Don’t bother taking your $20 pair of ballet flats, you need something sturdy, comfortable and flattering. A good pair of ballet flats or loafers can be worn during the day, adventuring around town or for an evening out.

Our recommendation; Jayde by Supersoft or Peppa by Steggmen, both flats offer leather upper and cushioned insole for all day comfort. These styles can also be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

 The Leisure Shoe

The leisure shoe is a must for travelling. If you are doing lots of walking around town and don’t want to take bulky sneakers these are your go to. They also look chicer than your average sneaker and care more versatile.

Our recommendation; Go Step Lite-Origin by Skechers, Around Town by Merrell or Galaxy by Supersoft. All of these options are light weight, making them a dream to travel with. They also offer a cushioned insole for all day comfort.

 Sturdy Sandals

If you are heading somewhere hot, you don’t want to be constricted to wearing in closed shoes everywhere. Sandals can give you a lot of grief,  so make sure they are the right size, fit and have been well worn in before taking them with you.

Our recommendation; Gizeh by Birkenstock or Around Town Slip On by Merrell. Both of these options have a sturdy thick sole with a moulded insole for greater support. Plus, both styles are very on trend at the moment, you can’t go wrong.

 Sneaker or trainer

If you are doing more adventure activities on your travels, a good quality sneaker is a must. Again, make sure they are well worn in before leaving. Choose a shoe that offers superior support, especially if you will be going off road.

Our recommendation; Go Run-400 by Skechers or Agility Peak-Flx by Merrell. Go Run is a great running sneaker offering mesh upper and goga mat insole. Agility is specially made for trail running, meaning it will give you superior grip and support in both wet and dry weather conditions.

Happy Travels!

Keep your feet warm this winter

0

The bitterness of winter is here. Like most Aussies (located in ACT or regional NSW), this is the time for hibernation. But… it doesn’t have to be this way, you don’t have to suffer. Here are some tips on how to keep your feet warm and cosy this winter so you can brave the weather and not become a hermit.

Winter mornings are the worst; no one wants to get up when it’s -5 outside. We all have that fleeting thought of staying in bed all day, but alas we must get up. First things first; make sure you have quality UGG boots. You can’t go past Tidal by UGG Australia. These beauties are 100% Australian made from 100% natural Australian merino double-faced sheepskin. You will feel instantly cosy and worm when you slip into a pair.

Once you’ve taken that first step to get out of bed, put the heater on and get dressed, you are now ready to brave the weather. A comfy pair of ankle boots will be your best friend this winter. When choosing a casual boot, go with a simple style that can go with most outfits. Human Premium offers high quality leather shoes and boots that are on trend. CYPRUS and SUMY are two of Human Premiums newest look boots that can be paired with any outfit. Both styles offer fantastic support and comfort with fully lined leather meaning they will keep you warm and dry.

The trick to keeping warm is layers, everyone knows this. The secret weapon to keeping your feet warm while out is wearing Heat Holder socks. Heat Holders are made from a specially developed heavy bulk yarn which has extreme thermal qualities. Wear day or night under your boots and you’ll be one happy chappy.

For a more formal look, swap your flat ankle boots for something with a heel. NELLA by Human Premium and THEO by Lipstik are two of the most popular boots this season. The simple sleek lines give any outfit a touch of sophistication, perfect for an evening out.

It may be cold outside, but you don’t have to be.

The Corset Effect – tips and trick to wearing the lace-up shoe

0

You can find almost any item of clothing with corset details these days. If you are interested in the look but aren’t ready to dive in, you can dip your toes in the water by investing in accessories and shoes that draw inspiration from the style.

The trick is finding the footwear that compliments your own individual look and of course there are some rules to follow when wearing the corset style so we don’t end up looking a trussed up Christmas turkey.

Rule #1 – Don’t top to toe it. Choose one piece and work with that.

Rule #2 – Don’t tie too tight. The lacing needs to be firm enough to stay in place, but not so tight you start to resemble a roll of deli meat

Rule #3 – With your shoes, try placing the bow at the back. This will show off the shape of your ankle and will also negate the dreaded ‘cankle’ which is the last thing any of us want.

Rule #4 – Pick a style that suits you.

Don’t forget, this is a trend to have fun with. Here are some of our favourite lace up options at FSW Shoes.

Velvet – The Most Luxurious Trend of 2017

0

For those of us at a certain age where the mere thought of velvet having made a return to fashion has the ability to send a shiver of dread down our spines. Images of looking like a back-up dancer in an ABBA video or an extra from an Austin Powers film can’t help but dance through our heads.

However the sumptuous lushness of the material can add a touch of sophistication to any outfit. The trick to wearing velvet and not looking like a member of the Brady Bunch is…. just keep it simple. What is the easiest way to keep it simple I hear your ask. Just add a splash luxury with your shoes.

Velvet is such a fabulously luxe material where a little goes a long way. You don’t have to dress from head to toe and you don’t have to go with the bold colours that are sashaying down the catwalk. You can keep it classy and elegant with basic black and greys.

Regie and Gael by Lipstick certainty add a touch of class to any outfit. The block heel makes them extremely comfortable and the ankle tie means you have stability all day long while also being flattering on any foot.

For those of us who love to be a little more daring, try an over the knee boot (which is another major trend of the season). Skarlett by Lipstik and Ambrose by Therapy will definitely put the luxe factor into an outfit whilst adding a stamp of edginess.

So for this season velvet is not just for the Kylie Jenners or the Gigi Hadids of the world. Banish the thought of Austin Powers whispering “yeah baby” in your ear and embrace the majestic opulence that is velvet.

Quick tip: caring for velvet. To keep your shoes looking fab you will need to give them a quick spray of Water and Stain Repellent every 4 or 5 wears.
